Oregon Health Care Association Honors Long-Time Avamere Volunteer with Recognition Award

The Oregon Health Care Association (OHCA) honored Evelyn Rogers, an Avamere at Sherwood volunteer for over a decade, with the Volunteer of the Year award at its annual convention and trade show on September 17th. This is a story about what it means to give back in the most selfless way possible. Evelyn Rogers, 87-years-young, has volunteered with Avamere at Sherwood for over 10 years, and recently received the “Volunteer of the Year” award from OHCA. Avamere Wins First Place for Most Participants at Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

The 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer’s was a huge success. For the second year in a row, the walk was held at the Portland International Raceway. A total of 2,958 people participated in the walk with Avamere winning first place out of 325 for the largest team! In total, $227,201.39 was raised this year! We would like to thank everyone who generously donated towards this wonderful cause by giving cash, cans and bottles, wine for the Wine Pull, or purchasing a raffle ticket or bottle of wine.
