Calling OHCA Members to Action for the February Legislative Session
Oregon's long term care delivery system continues to be at real risk for Medicaid funding reductions in the wake of a lagging economic recovery and reduced state revenues. The fast-approaching February legislative session, scheduled for only 35 days, means OHCA lobbyists will need help from all members to advocate against proposed 16-19% cuts to Medicaid long term care reimbursement rates.
The pace of the February session will be fast, and legislators will be forced to make budget and policy decisions quickly. OHCA Members can stay up-to-date on all that's happening in Salem through the weekly OHCA Capitol Report. Next week, OHCA will kick off a Member Advocacy push with a series of "Call to Action" emails where members can email their legislators in support of Medicaid long term care funding.
In order to have a significant impact in the volume of messages being sent to legislators, we encourage you to coordinate a push within your community to ramp up emails and phone calls over the next week. Share with your staff, your residents and their families the importance of making our voices heard on this critical issue.
