Assisted living residents unite to give back

Assisted living residents at Avamere at Port Townsend organized a clothing drive to benefit those in need in Port Townsend, Washington. The drive was the result of an active and vibrant Resident Council at Avamere at Port Townsend. Due to the chilly November temperatures and the local homeless shelter expressing a need for clothing, the council organized the effort.

The Resident Council is one of many activities available to assisted and independent living residents at Avamere at Port Townsend. The council is their voice. It’s a way to be active, stay social, and make a difference.

Huge response to clothing drive

The response was overwhelming. Residents, family members, and even citizens pitched in with donations. In fact, Avamere at Port Townsend had so many donations, the team had to make several trips to deliver them!

“We had so many donated items that our family volunteer, David, could not take them in his car and we had to take our bus,” stated Jason Segar, Executive Director at Avamere at Port Townsend.

Community support

Supporting each other is how a small town survives,” noted Lois Jasmer, Community Relations Director at Avamere at Port Townsend. “This support is one of many we’ve given back to our community recently. We’ve also donated to other organizations like the Jefferson Healthcare Foundation and Key City Players.”

Avamere at Port Townsend is also planning a giving tree during the holiday season. Find out what makes this community so special and schedule a visit today.
