Avamere Employee Heroes During COVID-19

March 26, 2020

As the Avamere Family of Companies continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, stories are emerging from our communities of team members who are going up and beyond during this difficult time. We’ve been featuring them on social media as “Avamere Heroes.”

Avamere Heroes are present daily in Avamere communities as we navigate COVID-19. The senior living world needs heroes to get through these trying times. A recap of some of the recent stories are included below.

Kimberly Ragsdale is a newer med tech to our team at Avamere at Roswell. Kimberly is always willing to come in on her days off and help cover shifts. She is always joking with staff and residents, showing off her wonderful personality. Making sure to ease the stress of the restrictions on visitation, Kimberly always has a smile on her face and goes above and beyond the call of duty! She embodies our core value: passion for the quality of people’s lives. Thank you, Kimberly!

Lexi Worley is our Business Office Manager at our Avamere at Bethany community and has been with us for four years. Over the weekend, Lexi rose to the challenge, applying all new Avamere training, signage, and guidelines to every team member. She stayed late through each evening communicating through telephone and email to all family members and residents to ensure they knew what protocols were in place. Lexi embodies our core value: passion for the quality of people’s lives. Thank you, Lexi Worley.

We also recognize Erica Mote and the entire team at Avamere Table Rock Memory Care. Erica is our Community Relations Director at the community. Residents were given quarantine kits with magazines, games, cards, and other goodies. Erica has been meeting with families and getting cards filled out and hand delivering to residents during this time. The community has purchased tablets to make video calling and messaging easy for family members!

In addition, a new resident has joined our community needing assistance with communication. Our resident normally communicated using sign language with her family. Since family visitation is postponed for a bit, our team has taken it upon themselves to learn sign language and communicate using a white board.

Erica and our Avamere Table Rock team embody our core value: teamwork, camaraderie, and fun.

Dakota Fitzpatrick is our Community Relations Director and Tony is our Maintenance Director at Avamere at Roswell. Dakota and Tony set up video calls the old-fashioned way. Families are setting up times to see their loved ones face-to-face with the use of a phone and a window!

Dakota and Tony embody our core value: innovation, not emulation! Thank you, Dakota and Tony.

The Stafford team members Larissa Moore, Nicole Sullivan, and Jessica Houck are ensuring protocols are met. Larissa has been on our team for several years. She has been an integral part of the team ensuring protocols are in place with residents, family, and team members. Joy Fondren has been our Life Enrichment Director at Avamere at Moses Lake for the last three years. Joy has been working hard to keep our residents active. She has been doing one-on-one activities with as many residents as possible. Joy has jumped in and helped many departments, including dining services and the front desk. With a smile on her face, she has taken temperatures of incoming staff members to the community to ensure safety. Joy has an unmatched passion and love for our residents and it shows on a daily basis.
