Avamere Living at Berry Park employees are serving seniors all year at the Oregon City Pioneer Center, a pickup spot for Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels provides seniors with nutritious meals, safety checks, and friendly visits.
As an independent living community, Avamere Living’s mission to enhance the life of every person they serve perfectly aligns with the great volunteer work these employees are doing alongside Meals on Wheels.
Serving seniors
The Avamere staff kicked off their volunteer work with three employees serving food January 23 at the Pioneer Center. There they serve food for about 30-40 seniors, as well as the pickups from Meals on Wheels.
Executive Director Wendy Wood, Assistant Director Michelle Goddard, and Housekeeping Manager Lana Nazarets were the first Avamere Living at Berry Park crew members to volunteer.
The team plans to send three to four employees once a month to volunteer.

A desire to make a difference
The inspiration to serve at the Pioneer Center initiated during the team’s yearly strategic planning.
“We wanted to find ways to be more involved in our local community,” Wendy shared.
