Q: What first peaked your interest in the compliance world?

A: I am someone who enjoys policy, procedure, and craves structure. In the compliance realm, you get to work on various sides of the company and work together with human resources and legal to ensure our company is operating under the latest policies, procedures, and regulations.

As someone who likes to support and foster growth in others, compliance allows me to touch a lot of departments, assist at the Home Office level and community level, and empower operators to run their communities under the latest guidelines.

Q: What is your favorite compliance guideline and why?

A: My favorite part of the job is getting to work with our various departments to achieve a common goal. We each have our own areas of expertise, but it takes all of us to “enhance the life of every person we serve.” In this role, we are able to provide support to our operators who provide that direct care to our staff, residents, and their families.

Michelle Jabczynski, Director of Compliance & Strategy

Michelle grew up on a farm in Sullivan, Wisconsin. She enjoys cooking, doing yoga, hiking, reading, watching football, and writing. She is currently working on a fiction novel.

Michelle obtained her Certificate of Healthcare Compliance in August 2018.

Q: What is your favorite quote?

A: It’s tough to pick just one!

“True belonging doesn’t require that we change who we are; it requires that we be who we are.”  — Brene Brown

I like it because it reminds me to bring my authentic self into every situation.

Q: What is your favorite compliance guideline and why?

A: Patient Rights. Our purpose is to make a difference in the lives of those we serve and do so with integrity, dignity, and respect.

Q: What’s something you wish others understood about compliance?

A: Compliance is fun – and never boring!

Q: What is your favorite part about your job?

A: The investigations. I love digging through all the information to seek the facts and root cause about what took place. Finding the facts allows us to make objective decisions and be true to a just culture.

Tim Esau, Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer

Tim is a Portland, Oregon native who loves to bike, hike and remodel houses. His favorite dessert is anything chocolate. As a child he enjoyed spending time at his grandparent’s farm in the summer. As a father, he hopes to keep pace with his kids as they grow up and go out into the world.

Q: What first peaked your interest in the compliance world?

A: It started out as just an add-on piece to my normal duties at Infinity Rehab, and then over the last few years as more guidelines have been published, it grew into a full-time position.

Q: What is your favorite compliance guideline and why?

A: One of the most important areas, in my opinion, is the prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse in the healthcare system.  With limited resources for all healthcare providers, it is important everyone does their best to prevent fraud, waste, or abuse in the healthcare system.
