An active mind is a happy mind! Take small opportunities to exercise your brain. Try a crossword puzzle, play a game with friends, or join in one of our many group activities for some fun and socializing.
Chat with friends
Speaking of socializing, keeping ties with friends and family can improve quality of life and possibly even delay memory loss, according to the American Journal of Public Health. If you’re an Avamere resident, join us on one of our outings or in-house activities.
We also occasionally hold events open to friends and family, sometimes even the general public, which is a great opportunity to gather with loved ones and have a good time.
Get a good night’s rest
Sleep is crucial for day-to-day living. Some studies show a lack of sleep can cause increased fall risk and memory problems. That’s how important it is to get your rest!
So turn off that alarm and let your body get the rest it needs.
Create a no stress zone
Everyone experiences stress from time to time, but it becomes a serious problem when it starts taking over your life and your ability to enjoy the day-to-day.
Find ways to help yourself cope with stress. This could include getting enough sleep, meditation, eating healthy, or expressing your feelings to a close friend, family member, or counselor.
If you’re experiencing significant stress, please talk with your doctor so you can take your life back and enjoy what’s most important to you.
