Rick Miller (Karl R. Miller, Jr.)
Founder and Chairman of the Board
Rick Miller founded the Avamere Group in 1995 with the acquisition of a single skilled nursing facility in Hillsboro, Oregon. With a progressive agenda to keep seniors healthy, independent, and in their home of choice for as long as practical, he led the growth and diversification of Avamere, sustaining an annual growth rate approaching 20% until 2012, when he became Chairman.
A highlight of his leadership occurred in 2010 when he wanted to understand, first hand, the customer and employee experience. Rick moved into and lived full time, for a year, in three different locations including independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. This experience resulted in many operational changes and was an evolutionary time in the history of the company.
In 2010 Rick co-founded the venture capital firm, Rogue Venture Partners. Rogue invests primarily in Oregon based entrepreneurs and early stage businesses with funding and mentorship.

Owner and Vice-Chair of the Board
Rick joined the Avamere Family of Companies in 1997 and has directly contributed to the growth of the Avamere Family of Companies as one of the Northwest’s largest senior health care and senior housing providers.
Prior to joining the Avamere Family of Companies, Rick worked for another health care provider for more than ten years, rising to director of operations. Rick is a past president of the Oregon Health Care Association and past chair of the Washington Health Care Association. Rick holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Azusa Pacific University. Rick is also a licensed nursing home administrator.
Executive Vice-President / General Counsel
Avamere Family of Companies
Larry Lopardo joined the Avamere Family of Companies as its first General Counsel in 1999. As General Counsel, he is responsible for all legal functions. This includes transaction negotiations, litigation management, licensing and regulatory compliance, insurance acquisition, and advising all Avamere companies on legal matters. Before the Avamere companies’ growth, Larry also headed the companies’ risk management and human resource functions.
Larry came to the Avamere companies after ten years as chief administrative officer of an electronics manufacturer and eight years as a California business trial attorney.
Larry holds three degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was named to Phi Beta Kappa: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (cum laude), Bachelor of Arts in History, and Juris Doctor.
Ron Odermott, CPA
Chief Financial Officer, Avamere Family of Companies
Ron Odermott joined the Avamere Family of Companies in 2003. As chief financial officer, he is responsible for all financial matters of all the Avamere Family of Companies. He provides general counsel about business growth opportunities and collaborates with debt and equity partners. He works closely with the executive team to execute staff success and growth plans while raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
Ron began his professional career at Price Waterhouse in Portland, Oregon. He began his career in health care as controller/CFO of a regional Long Term Care company and has been working in healthcare for over 17 years. Ron has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from Portland State University.
Chief Information Officer, Avamere Family of Companies
As Chief Information Officer, Mike Woodrow provides the technology vision and leadership to the Avamere family of companies. Mike is responsible for leading and managing a complex Information technology portfolio of people, infrastructure systems, applications, processes, and operational needs that support the strategic and tactical needs of the Avamere Family of Companies.
Mike has over 20 years of technology and information security experience. Mike joined Avamere in 2015 and served as the company’s Information Security Manager. Prior to Avamere Mike served in many IT leadership capacities in the financial and health care industries. Mike served as the Director of Network Operations at a financial services company that processed over $30 billion in transactions annually and was instrumental in helping the company become PCI compliant for the first time. Mike holds many technology certifications including multiple forensic certifications and the highly respected CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
President of Avamere Living
Matt began his journey in health care as an Activity Assistant in his home town of Eugene, Oregon. It was then that he decided to dedicate his career to senior care and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Matt is a responsive leader and persuasive communicator with a great passion for taking care of seniors.
Matt was promoted to VP of Operations in 2012 and VP of Organizational Effectiveness and Professional Development in 2016. Prior to this, he served as a Regional Director of Operations. Matt takes an active role in the executive and growth and development teams at the Avamere Group. He is currently a member of both the Oregon and Washington Health Care Associations. Matt was honored to be nominated and chosen to be part of the American Health Care Association 2006 Future Leaders. Matt has served as a member of the AHCA Quality Committee and the OHCA Payment for Service Committee.
Bob Thomas, PT
President, Signature Services
Bob joined the Avamere family in 1999. As President of Signature Services, Bob is responsible for the growth, strategic leadership and culture development for Signature Home Health, Home Care and Hospice. He began his career as a physical therapist and most recently as president of Infinity Rehab, Avamere Family of Companies flagship ancillary company. Prior to joining Avamere Family of Companies, he served as regional manager for a national rehab services company. He is an active professional contributing to numerous industry publications and journals and lecturing across the country on reimbursement, rehabilitation and other topics in the sub acute and long term care arena.
Bob serves currently on the board of the Section on Geriatrics of the American Physical Therapy Association and has served on the boards of the Oregon Physical Therapy Association, the Oregon Gerontological Association and the National Association for Rehab Providers and Agencies. He received his BS in psychology from Eastern University and his MS in physical therapy from Pacific University.
Michael Billings, PT, DHSc, CEEAA
President, Infinity Rehab
Michael has been in the rehab industry since 1991 with a focus on older adult rehab since 1995. He currently serves as President of Infinity Rehab, a contract rehab company providing inpatient and outpatient therapy services in 9 states. His special interests include managing program clinical intensity and patient outcomes with special emphasis on therapeutic exercise for the older adult.
Michael has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 1992 including membership in the Geriatric, Cardiopulmonary and Health Policy sections. He has been active in the Oregon Physical Therapy Association, including service on multiple committes. He has lectured locally and nationally on long-term care issues. He served as an adjunct professor at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR from 2000 to 2007. In 2010 he received his Certification as Exercise Expert for Aging Adults (CEEAA) from the APTA.
Michael received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon and a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University. In 2016, he earned Doctor of Health Science degree in Leadership and Organizational Behavior.
Vice President of Human Resources, Avamere Family of Companies
Bill serves as Vice President Human Resources for The Avamere Family of Companies (since 2008). He is responsible for all human resource programs for the companies with emphasis on workforce development and benefits administration.
Bill has over 20 years of human resources generalist experience in the long-term care and assisted living industries. Previously, he served in the roles of Senior Vice President, Vice President and Divisional Vice President of Human Resources for several nationally recognized senior care providers.
Bill has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maine, received a Certification in Management from the Yale School of Management and is a Certified Human Resources Professional. He is a member of SHRM, and has participated on ALFA’s Human Resources Executive Roundtable.
Vice President of Clinical Services, Avamere Living
Carl started with Avamere in 2012 as Vice President of Clinical Services. Carl has focused his 34 year career in serving the needs of the post-acute care patient. Carl began his career as a nursing assistant at the age of 16. He has held numerous positions including Charge Nurse, RCM, DNS, Administrator, Nurse Consultant to SNFs and ALFs, Risk Manager, RDO, Area Education Director, Area Director of Clinical Services, and VP of Operations. He holds multiple Baccalaureate degrees from Portland State University including Biology and Psychology. He graduated with a BSN with high honors from the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Nursing. Carl earned his Certificate in Wound Management Education from the University of Washington and holds national certification as a Certified Wound Care Nurse through the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Credentialing Board. He also earned a Certificate in Risk Management through Temple University and has worked as an independent nurse consultant for multiple law firms in Seattle and Portland.
Carl was recently selected to participate in training to be held at Florida Atlantic University to become a certified Interact II instructor. Carl has completed his first year in a post graduate Advanced Practice Nurse program at Seattle Pacific University and hopes to complete his studies to serve indigent populations in rural settings or via medical missionary programs.
Vice President of Strategic Development, Avamere Family of Companies
Jake started his career as a physical therapist for a rehab staffing company in 1996. In the course of 18 years, he has served in a variety of functions in the acute care environment, post-acute care setting and medical device industry. He has used his quantitative skills, analytical discipline and organizational expertise to help large multi-enterprise and multinational companies deal with ambiguous business issues. The past seven years have been devoted to bringing certainty and order in the areas of innovation management, business intelligence, future product development, acquisitions, strategic partnerships and program development.
Jake joined the Avamere Family of Companies in 2010 to support Bob Thomas in laying down the foundation for clinical and operational excellence in Signature Hospice, Home Health and Home Care. He now leads the charge in positioning Avamere for success in the ever evolving Affordable Care Act environment.
Jake received a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of the Philippines and an MBA from Copenhagen Business School.
Vice President and Controller, Avamere Family of Companies
Kevin joined the Avamere Family of Companies in 2013 as Vice President and Corporate Controller. Kevin is responsible for accounting, the annual budgeting and audit process, third-party reimbursement and he supports acquisitions and development. Kevin has worked in long-term care since 1997.
Immediately prior to joining the Avamere Family of Companies, Kevin served as Vice President and Corporate Controller for a regional seniors housing company in Oregon. Previous to this, he served as Vice President of Reimbursement and Business Planning for a seniors housing company in Arizona and as the Reimbursement Consultant for a large sub-acute care company in Connecticut. Kevin has an MBA in Finance with an emphasis in accounting.
Vice President of Network Development, Avamere Family of Companies
Donna draws from more than 30 years in healthcare as a nurse, physical therapist, consultant and program specialist for skilled nursing facilities. She has led business development for Infinity Rehab since 2001, and many current growth initiatives for the Avamere Family of Companies.
In her former role as Vice President of Business Development for Infinity Rehab, she assisted more than 100 facilities to secure appropriate ancillary services, develop niche clinical programs, evaluate emerging technology, and subsequently improve operations. She now leads the growth of Signature CareConnect for the Avamere Family of Companies. Donna earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Washington. She is a life-long learner and has completed extensive continuing education coursework in all areas of clinical practice and leadership. In 1999, she completed an Executive Training Curriculum by Yale University School of Business Management.
Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, Avamere Family of Companies
Tim is a long-time employee of the Avamere Family of Companies. He was hired as one of the first Physical Therapists for Infinity Rehab in 1999. He excelled as a staff therapist then became a successful Therapy Program Manager for one of their busiest facilities. Tim was promoted to Clinical Director in 2001 and, in June of 2006, took on a new role with Infinity Rehab. As Director of Compliance and Clinical Development, he oversaw Clinical Compliance of the therapists and Quality Assurance programs so therapists could achieve the best possible outcomes for patients. He recently transitioned into his current role, overseeing Compliance and Privacy for the Avamere Family of Companies.
Tim received his undergraduate degree from Oregon State University (BS in Exercise and Sports Science) and completed his MSPT at Pacific University. Tim’s background in home health, acute care settings, and the long-term care setting contributes to his holistic perspective of the Avamere Family of Companies’ continuum of care. Tim has spoken regionally on documentation strategies for Therapists and Medicare regulations.
