2012 Legislative Session Comes to a Close. Medicaid Cuts Avoided

With a single day left in their constitutionally dictated schedule, the Oregon Legislative Assembly adjourned its 2012 Legislative Session the evening of March 5th. Following final weekend negotiations, legislators met morning, afternoon and evening that week to come to an agreement on the budget and several outstanding issues. Oregon’s long term care delivery system fared significantly better than other program areas in the state budget. Throughout the legislative session, OHCA lobbyists were actively involved in budget deliberations with legislative leaders and the Governor’s staff on recommended strategies to address the Medicaid long term care budget shortfalls.
