Avamere Living President Carl Tabor was honored Monday, December 12, as an inaugural winner of the McKnight’s Pinnacle Award! This award recognizes industry veterans for exemplary service and leadership in Long Term Care. Carl will receive the “Agent of Change” award.

The thirty veterans awarded have driven change, set new standards, and provided inspirational leadership. The honorees are veteran long-term care operators, caregivers, and affiliated professionals who have had lengthy careers – at least 20 years – serving at the top levels of skilled nursing, home care, and senior living. The program is a joint effort of McKnight’s Long-Term Care News and sister media brands McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Home Care.

“Each of these dedicated, successful veterans has spent many years showing the field — and those watching it — how great professionals get the job done,” said McKnight’s Vice President and Editorial Director John O’Connor. “For more than two decades, each has continued to perform at the top of their game, which is an inspiration to all. We are truly fortunate to walk and work among them.”

Award winners were named in one of six categories: Agent of Change, Industry Ally, Inspiration, Setting the Standard, Thought Leader, Unsung Hero, and Business Partner. Winners were chosen by an independent committee of skilled nursing, senior living, and home care leaders, who considered nominees across four primary criteria groupings.

Today, Carl Tabor has over 47 years of experience in the healthcare field. He has had a passion for helping others that has followed him through life. Carl took a self-study course in high school to become a CNA, and worked as a CNA and CMA for eight years. He has led clinical risk management for over 500 skilled nursing buildings nationwide, and was a Licensed Administrator in several states. He has held roles as a Nurse, Regional Director of Operations, Vice President of Nursing, Executive Vice President of Quality, and today as the President of Avamere Living.

Carl and the other winners of the McKnights Pinnacle Awards will be honored on March 7th, 2023, at a gala award ceremony and dinner in Chicago.
